Corporate Social Responsibility

Putting our social, environmental and economic responsibilities at the heart of what we do.

 

We are proud of the great strides we have taken to ensure that we act in a responsible manner as both a business and an employer. Adding value where we can to communities in the North East, supporting charities and decreasing our carbon footprint has become very much a core part of our business life. We look forward to developing this ethos as we continue to grow.

 

Community Support

 

  •  Esh Group – Building My Skills

We are delighted to be going into our second year working with the Esh Group as part of the group of businesses helping to deliver employability skills into schools across the North East. Recently recognised by Her Majesty the Queen for outstanding commitment to Social Responsibility, Esh are one of the first construction companies in the UK to be awarded the Queen’s Award for Enterprise: Promoting Enterprise and Social Mobility. We very much look forward to meeting the workforce of the future at the schools we visit and those taking part in the annual Mock Interview Day at the end of the skills programme.

  • Gateshead Food Bank

We were pleased to be able to support the Gateshead Food Bank at our monthly business networking event, the PG Legal Curry Club. We designated our final event of 2018 as “The Charity One” and were delighted to be joined by volunteers from the foodbank who talked to attendees about the role of the foodbank and the impact it has on those in crisis. We asked all attendees to donate items and were astounded by the support we received. In total we collected 180 kilograms of food and toiletries to help those in crisis.

 

Charitable Support

 

  • Charity of the Year – Grace House

We are thrilled to be a Corporate Partner of Grace House and to support the charity as our nominated Charity of the Year. Based in Sunderland, the charity provides short breaks to children and young people aged 5 years to 17 years living with a complex disability and Autism. In addition, the charity also support the whole family with services including free holistic therapies, counselling, group support and family activities.

 

  • Fighting All Cancers Together (FACT) – Great North Coffee Morning

If there’s cake we’re there! We were only too pleased to lend our support to one of our charity clients, FACT by hosting a coffee morning to raise funds for their appeal. It was great to see the event attended by so many businesses we deal with! A special thank you went out to our very own legal team who showed their skills in the kitchen by baking sweet and savoury dishes to raise money at the event.

 

  • Macmillan – World’s Biggest Coffee Morning

We look forward to supporting Macmillan’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning every year and inviting both clients and business contacts to join us. Our talented legal team get their chefs hats on to delight the crowds with homemade delicacies. A well-known fundraiser in our calendar!

 

Sporting Support

 

  • Newcastle United Football Club – Executive Club

We are delighted to be supporting one of the North East’s most well-known football clubs, Newcastle United, by being part of the Executive Club operated by Eleven Sports Media.

 

  • Gateshead FC sponsorship

Having recently advised the new owners of local team, Gateshead FC we are pleased to be able to offer further backing to this much-loved team by sponsoring pitchside boards and taking hospitality tickets. We have been overwhelmed by the show of support we have received from Gateshead FC fans following the work we carried out for the club and we are delighted to continue to show our support for the club.

 

Environmental impact

 

We are constantly looking at ways in which we can reduce our environmental impact. Measures taken include:

  • Recycling paper, cardboard, cans, plastic bottles and toner and ink cartridges
  • Printing only where necessary – we have moved towards a paper-lite environment
  • Reducing single use plastics – water is served in carafes during client meetings rather than bottles and we no longer use plastic cups in the office
  • We turn off lights and electrical equipment when not in use.
